A Community-Led Force for Change
Founded in 2018, Equilibrium Initiative Nigeria is a youth-led nonprofit committed to advancing the rights, safety, and wellbeing of LGBTQI+ youths in Nigeria beginning in the Niger Delta and Middle Belt regions.
We believe that change must come from within the community. By empowering queer youth with tools, resources, and support, EIN helps individuals reclaim their identity and build a future on their own terms.

Five Integrated Areas of Work
EIN delivers integrated programming across five core areas, ensuring queer youths receive holistic support from legal protection to health, research, and movement-building.
Advocacy & Policy Change
Engaging legislators, communities, and the public to advance legal protections and human rights. EIN runs awareness sessions, policy engagement, and alternative dispute resolution training.
Rapid Response & Legal Aid
Emergency legal support, paralegal interventions, and crisis stabilisation for queer youths facing arrest, violence, or displacement. Our ADR model achieved 190% case resolution rate.
Education & Research
Generating evidence that informs programming and strengthens advocacy. EIN’s 2025 safety report reached 470 participants, three times the original target, producing actionable intelligence.
Health & Psychosocial Support
Delivering psychosocial support, SGBV prevention training, and mental health awareness. Trained counsellors cascade support across 9 states, multiplying reach far beyond direct beneficiaries.
Partnerships & Movement Building
Building a network of national and international allies, NGOs, and individual advocates. EIN participates in global convenings and fundraising to strengthen the broader rights movement.

EIN was founded on the belief that change must come from within the community. Since 2018, we have grown from a grassroots response into a nationally recognised organisation with international reach.
EIN Founded
Emerged as a youth-led response to the need for localised support systems for queer individuals in the Niger Delta region.
Programme Expansion
Expanded legal aid, advocacy, and psychosocial programming. Established paralegal ADR network across new geographies.
Research & Evidence Unit
Launched structured research programme. First major safety & insecurity survey reached 3× target with 470 participants.
Strategic Plan 2025–2030 Launched
